FOREST PRODUCTS
The Company became involved in the cartage of both logs and wood chips in July 1976.
Wood chips were loaded from various timber mills in Otago and transported to Port Chalmers for export. This side of the business has grown over the years steadily increasing the number of mills collected from and the chip carted to both domestic users and various ports for export. Today this volume can be anything from 5 to 15 loads per day.
The log cartage business has steadily increased over the years with the company being the preferred carrier by Ernslaw One. Loads are carted to various domestic users as well as the South Islands ports for export. Loads can be as many as 30 per day.
The company has steadily built up a reputation as the dominant carrier of forestry products in the southern half of the South Island. Their reputation for reliability is highly respected and this has been achieved through the formation of strong partnerships with the forestry companies, the running of a modern well maintained fleet ably driven by a highly trained and skilled workforce.
DAIRY
The Companies introduction to the cartage of dairy products started when an opportunity became available to cart cheese from the Edendale factory to the Port of Timaru in 1990. The company's association with the Edendale factory in particular and the dairy industry in general continued to develop as the South Island dairy company became Anchor and then became Fonterra.
1997 saw the manufacture of a significant milk powder plant at the Edendale factory and the company was retained to transport this product to the port of Otago for export.
1998 saw a further opportunity present itself when there became a requirement to cart bulk milk from Edendale to the Clandeboye dairy factory in south Canterbury. Since then this specialist work has increased markedly and is now a significant part of the overall Dynes operation. |
