Allister Marshall
Operations Manager - Dry Goods
From a family that has been involved in the transport industry longer than he can remember, Allister Marshall grew up with diesel in his blood. Allister himself has a vast amount of experience within the transport industry, having previously worked for Dunedin Carrying for about 12 years in various positions as a driver, mechanic and most recently operations manager. He says "it's not hard to get out of bed each day when you enjoy what you are doing".
"The industry has changed considerably over the last couple of decades with trucks getting bigger and technology now playing a large role in the day to day running of the business e.g. GPS which wasn’t accepted very well at first by staff, but they soon realised it was as much for them as for the employer, I can remember plenty of times it has saved us explaining a situation when you can replay exactly what a particular vehicle has been doing, also it can be used as a measuring tool for driver performance".
Allister mirrors most when he says that people are Dynes' biggest asset, but equally "the can-do attitude" and quality equipment play a big part in Dynes' success. Dynes also acknowledges this and invest a considerable amount of time and money in training and inducting new staff before they even get near a truck of any sort. Allister says, "this is a commitment we take on for the better of the company and the industry as a whole".
Finally, Allister adds, "I think as far as this company goes we are in good hands. It's a family owned business with a driven management team that are prepared to go the extra mile for both their clients and their staff".
